3-Read Friday #84
Formative assessment, teacher training, fluency
Primary teachers, have you seen our brand-new White Rose maths collection of diagnostic questions? Reception to Year 6, all free, available here.
Here are three blog posts that I found interesting this week.
1. Can AI Help With Formative Assessment? by Becky Allen
Becky describes a fascinating experience she had. She wrote a simple prompt (which she shares in the post) that enabled a freely available LLM to analyse a photo of students ’ work, identify possible misconceptions, and then write diagnostic questions to find more evidence for those misconceptions.
2. When Teacher Training Feels Like a Sales Pitch (and How to Push Back) by Jim Hewitt and Nidhi Sachdeva
Jim and Nihdi take a deep dive into the world of teacher CPD, offering five warning signs to look out for, and actions you can take as recipients of that CPD. I’ll admit to falling foul of the first one on their list myself…
3. Incremental Fact Fluency by Dylan Kane
Regular readers know I love a bit of AI Maths resource creation. So, I loved Dylan’s post about a series of worksheets he has created using AI to help students develop fluency in their times tables.
Check out my brand-new 16-part book series, The Tips for Teachers guide to… here.
Have a great weekend.
