Give your students a chance to stay sharp this summer with our maths Summer Club from July 21st to August 29th!
By completing the Question of the Day (QOTD) each day in their free Eedi account, students can earn weekly prizes and build confidence for the new school year. Plus, 3 lucky winners will be chosen every week!
It’s a fun, easy way to keep learning going while rewarding effort!

Here are three blog posts that I found interesting this week.
1. Cueing attention in time… aka the three benefits of a good check for understanding
I’m a sucker for reading about attnetion and checks for understanding, and this post by Mike ticks both boxes. Mike outlines three benefits from an easily implementable strategy: tell students they will be tested on the information you are about to present.
2. When Failure Feeds the Flame by Paul Kirschner
Paul provides a fascinating insight into the latest developments in Cognitive Load Theory and the implications for instruction. This quote hit home for me: effective teaching is not about showmanship or trend-chasing, it is about aligning instruction with the reality of how our brains work
3. The cost of borrowed thought: a response to 'Your Brain on ChatGPT' by David Didau
I recently wrote about the perils of students cognitively outsourcing their homework to ChatGPT. David delves into this issue further.
