3-Read Friday #73
Retrieval practice, smartphones, and the death or art
Have you checked out our Super Spreadsheet, which has the very best multiple-choice questions and quizzes aligned to the White Rose scheme for Years 2 to 9 and a tab with quizzes for Years 10 and 11 for any scheme? Here it is!
Here are three blog posts that I found interesting this week.
1. A thought experiment on retrieval practice by Adam Robbins
Adam asks us to consider the output of four students during retrieval practice. Which one learns more? Which output do you encourage the most?
2. Why we banned smartphones by SouthGlosHead
I am at the stage where I feel it is a no-brainer that all schools should ban smartphones. This post articulates the case better than I ever could.
3. On AI and the death of art by Claire Stoneman
In my recent AI chat, Neil Almond lamented whether today’s children would appreciate paintings when they could generate something “better” at the click of a button. Claire develops this argument.
