3-Read Friday #71
Explaining, modelling, and the 3-year cycle
Have you checked out our Super Spreadsheet, which has the very best multiple-choice questions and quizzes aligned to the White Rose scheme for Years 2 to 9 and a tab with quizzes for Years 10 and 11 for any scheme? Here it is!
Here are three blog posts that I found interesting this week.
1. It's Not the Explanations by Dylan Kane

2. The gradual decline of effective teacher modelling – why tech can often hinder modelling by Emma Turner
… which leads nicely onto this post by Emma in which she argues that not enough emphasis in teacher CPD is put on the art of modelling. With the proliferation of prepared, clickable PowerPoints, this central tenet of teaching risks dying out.
3. Educational Amnesia: Why England Is Sleepwalking into a Scottish Mistake by Mark McCourt
Who doesn’t love a meaty blog post from Mark? Here, Mark returns to his long-running theme about the 30-year cycle in education, and the dangers facing England at the moment.
