Here are three blog posts that I found interesting this week.
1. Alternatives to atomisation by Colin Foster
I always like to be challenged, and following my podcast with atomisation advocate Kris Boulton, Colin Foster sent me this piece that argues against breaking all maths down into atoms. I think I need to get Colin and Kris on the podcast to hash this out!
2. On the myths and truths about how girls learn by Rebecca Birch
Rebecca analyses the evidence supporting several claims about the difference between how girls and boys learn (Girls Learn Better Collaboratively, Girls Are Better Off Educated With Boys) and reaches some fascinating conclusions.
3. On 'scripted' lessons by Greg Ashman
Greg responds to a recent critique of centrally planned lessons. The way Greg and his team systematically iterate and improve their lessons based on data is something all departments could aspire towards.
