1. What is Atomisation? by Kris Boulton
Long-time listeners to my podcast will know I am obsessed with Atomisation, largely thanks to Kris Boulton. When I had Kris back on the podcast this week, he announced he had launched a newsletter. If this first post is anything to go by, readers are in for a treat. Get signed up!
2. Edu-Homily Watch: Do Students Need to Like Their Teachers to Learn? by Robert Pondiscio
Do students learn best from the teachers they like? If the answer is yes, then does that mean teachers should start practising telling jokes, and focus on delivering fun, engaging lessons? Robert dives into the research, reaching a firm conclusion: Students learn from teachers they like. But they like teachers they learn from.
3. The Simple Classroom by Blake Harvard
I love the distinction Blake makes here between a simple classroom, built on routines where things feel predictable and safe, and an easy classroom, where students can get away with doing very little thinking. The best way to avoid an easy classroom is to start with a simple one.
