Holly Korbey’s article was very interesting but also a bit frustrating because, as used in the US, scripted is used to refer to everything from giving teachers a high-quality curriculum to actually scripting the lessons. There are very different and when she talks about research offering support, it isn’t clear what level of “script” is supported. A high-quality curriculum is an absolute no-brainer…..detailed scripts in the classroom, no so much. I’d need to see a lot of strong research to convince me on that.
