3-Read Friday #63
Teacher improvement, tolerance zones, and maths gems
Want to sync all of your classes onto Eedi FOR FREE with one click? Take the boring admin out of getting started by requesting help here and we'll be in touch! Limited offer.
Here are three blog posts that I found interesting this week.
1. Why do teachers in some schools keep getting better for longer? by Sam Simms
Sam identifies the common theme in schools where teachers continue to improve (as opposed to plateauing after a few years). He then suggests how leaders can use Social Capital Theory to implement this in their schools.
2. Applying the Science of Learning Using Tolerance Zones by Carl Hendrick
For retrieval practice to be effective, students must experience some success but also experience some challenge. So, what is the optimal ratio? Carl dives into the research on Tolerance Zones to suggest an answer.
3. 5 Maths Gems #187 by Jo Morgan
One for the maths geeks. The latest installment of Jo’s regular offering of mathematical goodies contains some lovely vocab resources, activities created using AI, and some classic tasks from the late, great, Don Steward.
