1. Tackling Low Participation Tasks by Pete Foster
Asking yourself how cognitively engaged students are at various points of your lesson is a really useful thing to do. Here, Pete tackles head-on two common activities - note-taking and reading - suggesting they may not be as cognitively engaging as we might hope.
2. The Scottish ‘Curriculum for Excellence’: a good example of what NOT to do by Bruce Robertson
If you have heard the criticisms over the past few years about the Scottish curriculum but have not fully gotten to grips with the issues, this post is for you.
3. A nice little routine by Dylan Kane
I am thinking a lot about Do Nows at the moment, so this from Dylan has come at a perfect time. I like the use of mini-whiteboards (obviously), but also the consideration of the different types of questions that could be asked.

I found the article about the Scottish curriculum very interesting. I am a teacher who is experienced in teaching A level Maths and Further Maths in KS5. This year I have started teaching Core Maths (the AQA one) and so far I absolutely hate it! the paragraph from the article headed "a being busy Curriculum" completely chimed with my experience trying to get to grips with this course! Anyone else agree??
