This newsletter is made possible by Eedi. Check out our brand-new set of diagnostic quizzes, videos, and practice questions for every maths topic, ready to use in the classroom and all for free, here.
Here are three blog posts that I found interesting this week.
1. Testing, testing, one two, one two by Claudia Lewis
You gave your students an end-of-topic test… and it has not gone well. What do you do? Claudia asks us first to consider whether this result was a surprise. And depending on our answer, she has some super practical next steps to take.
2. Implementation – Problems and Solutions by Pete Foster
One for anyone in school trying to bring about change in a school - whether you are a Head, middle leader, head of department, or even a teacher trying to change the behaviour of your students. Pete, like Claudia above, asks us first to consider the nature of the issue, which then leads to the solution.
3. The Simple Classroom by Blake Harvard
Are your lessons simple as opposed to easy? This is a really useful distinction from Blake, focussing on the importance of routines, predictability and safety to ensure students can perform to their very best.
If you found this edition of 3-Read Friday useful, feel free to share it with colleagues. Also, you can check out all the back issues of my Eedi newsletter and Tips for Teachers newsletter here. But, most importantly of all, have a great weekend.
