This newsletter is made possible because of Eedi. Check out our brand-new set of diagnostic quizzes, videos, and practice questions for every single maths topic, ready to use in the classroom, and all for free, here.
Here are three blog posts that I found interesting this week.
1. How I Use Worked Examples by Dylan Kane
Regular readers may know just how obsessed I am with worked examples. Here, Dylan shares his approach… which is very different to mine! Like Michael Pershan, Dylan favours students studying completed worked examples instead of watching the example being modelled live by the teacher. Lots to think about here!
2. Pupil Premium and SEND: learning without labels by Marc Rowland
I don’t think anywhere near enough about supporting SEND students. This post by Marc has helped educate me. “The practitioner is the intervention” is one takeaway I found particularly powerful.
3. Khanmigo Doesn't Love Kids by Dan Meyer
Amercian educationalist, Dan Meyer, is not a fan of AI tutors. Here, he shares an exchange with one of the most prominent of these, Khanmigo from Khan Academy. With the incredible things that large language models like Chat GTP can do, it is interesting to pause and reflect upon their current limitations.
If you found this edition of 3-Read Friday useful, feel free to share it with colleagues. Also, you can check out all the back issues of my Eedi newsletter and Tips for Teachers newsletter here. But, most importantly of all, have a great weekend.
